Okay so, today, my class went on a field trip to a graffiti "museum", 5Pointz, and, let me tell you, it was AMAZING. Every square inch was covered with spray paint. I couldn't believe it. It was shocking. Now, our tour guide, Jonathan Cohen, or best known by his signature tag, "Meres One", was AWESOME. He couldn't let us inside the building, due to an accident a couple years back, but he showed as around outside, and most of us couldn't believe our eyes. Of course, a lot of the drawings were ragged, but It still looked REALLY GOOD!! I took tons of pictures that I'll upload later I guess.
If any of you reading this live in New York State, or are planning to visit New York City sometime from anywhere around the world, 5Pointz is located at 46-23 Crane St., Long Island City, NY. I'm telling you people, this one of those places you just gotta' see before you die. If you look it up on Google Maps, it should be point D, with additional photographs provided by Meres.
At the end of the tour, Meres ask one question, and the person who got the question right first got a special prize
Question: "The oldest piece here was done by the Graffiti Artist, 'Child'. What year was it done in?"
Answer: "2000"
Prize: An AWESOME T-shirt
Luckily, I had a $20.00 bill on hand and bought one from the catalog he passed around. Also, you really have to check out the website!
